    The end-of-year lists to end all other end-of-year lists (and appreciate the incredible music we had this year)

    This year I finally started my music blog (although I didn’t really post a lot or make any of that custom front-end that I wanted to) but I felt MORE THAN EVER this year that I had had enough of mainstream music publications. They consistently miss the mark because they 1. don’t listen to kpop or 2. just put popular artists at the top to get likes and shares from fans.

    And well if I will do anything it’s stand up to bullshit so I started the Snoraing K-Pop Grammy’s!(gonna trademark this im sure it will go through) What I have prepared for you today is the following rankings:

    I ended up reviewing 58 artist’s discography from this year. Which isn’t even close to everyone, but it really did feel like a high number ok? I lowkey started hating people who released full albums this year, so I need to try better to listen to everyone throughout the year if I wanna keep up with this list-making business. The image below shows them all (but I didn’t write out each ARTMS member it felt kinda redundant).

    Before we dive in to the lists I need to take you through some rules:

    • No HYBE artists – I’m sure they released great music this year, but due to my issues with the company, I did not listen to/review their artists discographies (even though I wanted to). But Hybe can probably payola their artists onto other lists anyway soooo
    • Not counting k-pop artists featuring on non-k-pop songs.
    • Not counting original Japanese/Chinese etc. releases or eventual Korean versions.
    • Not counting remixes.
    • Not counting OST.
    • For releases that are mostly in English, there has to be at least ONE Korean word in the entire album
    • Only counting deluxe versions of albums released in 2025 (rip I Did: Bloom specifically)
    • &Our Vibe by SAY MY NAME was not counted because it just came out too late T_T I’ll remember it for next year’s list!

    Yeah I had to make my own YouTube video for this list. I expected to stay in the khia asylum but I got lot’s of positive feedback from people. If you had seen this video before me posting this THANK YOU <3 its a christmas miracle

    There were so many incredible songs this year. I started out making a top 10, then it became a top 20, and eventually… here we are at 30 songs. And the cuts I had to make were HAAARD. This ranking music business is difficult, even if I accept that it will just be my subjective taste.

    Top 10 Albums

    Yeah.. made a video for this one too…. now it’s only a couple hours old !but I have the feeling this will stay in the khia asylum even though I put so much more effort into the editing here… tis the wrath of the algorithm…

    This list was so… much harder to make. You’d think with only 56 albums and EP’s I’d have an easier time. But the limiting it to 10… and then comparing them… albums can be so different in ways that songs aren’t. I tried sticking to the banger% metric but what if the banger% is low but the bangers really bang? And what if the album is full of solos that sound really good, but just doesn’t feel like a Twice album? (oops spoiler?)

    Anyway. I did it. I may never be happy with the final list. But I made it.

    Top 10 Album Intros/Outros

    Is it just me or does this kind of list go so ignored? I realised after my research that there just simply… is not a lot of intros/outros to choose from. So that’s probably why. But ever since the SO WHAT Loona era that had my favourite album intro of all time (until the 12:00 one). This topic has been of special interest to me.

    I actually can’t remember if there were any more albums with intros from this year… this might be all of them ranked from worst to best?

    There are only a couple rookies on the list of artists this year. But it is also really hard to pick just one… So I will be giving you my top 3 and let the very few other artists just be… a mystery to you 🙂

    Now I’ll be honest… I liked I ONE and that’s kinda it. But XLOV is truly a revolutionary group, and just their presence. existing. here and now. in 2025. Earned them the third spot in my list. And I ONE was really good! So that helps a lot. It’s just three songs. But they were really good songs.

    2. Hearts2Hearts

    Hearts2Hearts

    Hearts2Hearts released one EP and one single this year, and they both aaaaaaaaatee! I feel like nobody has said it enough, but they are genuinely Red Velvet’s daughters. which is… important considering … #rip

    I’m consistently excited to see what they’ll release next, and I love the aesthetics so far. The Case was such a good debut, and though I only really liked 2 songs off of FOCUS, they were really good songs you know?

Coming from a small company, I’m so impressed with their quality of music, and I hope FOR DEAR GOD that they continue to release great music for a long time.     There were a couple artists/albums/songs during my review that I needed to extend my deepest apologies to. For various reasons. So before you get to even get to comment (which I remembered to add in this time despite only getting spam comments… its okaaay). I admit it. I’m sorry.

    Rescene

    During the making of these lists, I stumbled upon Rescene’s discography. And my jaw just fell on the floor because it was literally December 20th and I was hearing Bloom for the first time.

    What. Do. You. Mean!?!?!??!?!?

    They fell off the top 30 songs list JUST BARELY… TWICE. Hello XO and CRASH were incredible, but they did only get like 2 streams for me to appreciate them. So apologies to Rescene. You were robbed. And so was I.

    SAY MY NAME

    Not only had I, like with Rescene, missed out on their discography from this year. But they literally dropped an EP on the 29th of December. I mean what was I supposed to do??? My rankings were done!

    I’m sorry SAY MY NAME. Because not only did My Name Is… just barely fall off the albums list, along with XOXO from the songs list. But &Our Vibe didn’t even get the chance. Sigh….

    First of all. I’m sorry for spelling your name wrong in my songs list. But TO BE FAIR. the album was called unevermet with an E in met. I’m just a new fan who tuned in too late (again…) how was I suposed to know!? (ignore the fact that I have put all other Modhaus artists on both lists)… I’m sorry…. for underestimating a boy group…..

    Blue Valentine

    I was honestly completely unfair to the whole Blue Valentine album on my first listen. I had Forwardesque expectations, and it was the morning… and I was kinda tired… And I accidentally robbed NMIXX on the songs list despite them being there thrice….

    I’m sorry Blue Valentine, because I am still salty that it wasn’t Forward that got the All-Kills… but you were good too….

    Baekhyun and also the rest of EXO

    Baekhyun actually single-handedly (maybe) kept 3rd gen k-pop alive this year. I was spiritually back in middle school watching vlive of him and Chanyeol in a car talking about some chicken tender love (those who know they know) while listening to Essence of Reverie. And where were his accolades? Nowhere to be seen! (By me). Even despite loving this album a lot I put a fucking 4-song long album over it… I’m sorry Baekhyun.

    And also all the rest of EXO… I had finished reviewing every artist in the above list. Was tired and exited to be over with it all. When I in secret realised that I had completely ignored the rest of EXO. I even tweeted earlier in the year that EXO-CBX has one of my favourite songs and music videos of all time. And I never even tried to check why EXO-CBX was on my timeline that day. My first bias ever in the history of ever was literally Chanyeol and I didn’t even try to review him…

    Guys, if I had included Japanese releases in this list. Do you know who would absolutely top every single one? YUM BY KEP1ER.

I’m literally aiming to become a professional music enjoyer. computer science master degree be damned!!!!! We’re all going to hell anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Ranking the 5 New ARTMS Solos

    Listen. It’s exam season. Its 09:30. The people I was supposed to study with at 9 are still not here. I’m gonna talk about the ARTMS solos.

    I think many of us LOONA fans view the subunit/solo EP debut era very fondly, and have possibly been dreaming about the day where they get to return. This dream was partially fulfilled when 5 members re-debuted with Modhaus and Jaden Jeong. I literally cried just reading the “Did You Wait?” intro track title for Odd Eye Circle’s redebut EP <Version Up>.

    Those were better days… more hopeful days… happier days. Unfortunately, every day is pain when you’re an Orbit.

    This is a very long intro just to say that. It feels like I’m getting a little bit of what I wanted after so long. A complete solo comeback project for every member in ARTMS. YAYY! Of course HaSeul has been releasing sporadic city-pop bangers, Heejin got the K ep, and obviously Chuu and Yves started entire solo careers – so it’s not like I was waiting for Jaden Jeong to save the day, but it’s something about a continuous group solo release schedule that just feels so nostalgic.

    So okay to start the actual ranking

    I’m gonna order this list, not in the release order but in MY ranking from least to most favorite (because it’s suspenseful to read that way) but If you saw my tweet u already know the order so. idc if u just skip to whatever section u care about really!

    #5 – Ring of Chaos

    I like Ring of Chaos. I listened to Ring of Chaos while buying my concert tickets. Ring of Chaos is good. But it’s my least favorite track unfortunately. It suffers from a problem that I have with some of the other releases too: it doesn’t really change. It kind of stays at the vibe it has, which makes the intense build up after the second chorus fall incredibly flat in my opinion.

    Something about it is just very “casual” sounding. The lyrics are very moving, but both the music video and the production doesn’t really feel like it’s trying as hard 🙁 Underwhelming is the word. Not every song has to be .. whelming.. but that is the reason it is at the bottom of my list #sorry

    #4 Pressure

    This song is so cutesy – and I think it suits Choerry very well! I think the music video is my favorite by far. It’s edited like a TikTok edit, and i think it’s very much appealing to that crowd – which – YES! If this music video can go mega viral with the Illit, IVE, Rescene crowd (younger girls) it would make me very happy because we know they carry this industry 🙏

    That being said, it also suffers from the monotony problem in Ring of Chaos. Choerry never really gets a break in this song. She just sings and sings and sings in the same pitch kind of all the way through. Maybe I brainrotted away all my attention span, but I wish these two songs were a bit more dynamic. That being said, both execute their concepts pretty well, and Pressure is just a bit more catchy with the “beep beep beep my love love love its you you”. Also bonus points for this clip:

    #3 Love Poison

    It’s slow!

    Slow songs are super nice for certain moods. Lord know this is in the study playlist. And of course someone needs to have the slow song. It’s a very soothing slow song. Great slow song. And it’s unclear whether they had planned solos for the other members when this came out. It might’ve been just one of the HaSeul solos we usually get, and then they figured they would give the others songs as well. Who knows?

    But this one got me wishing for an upbeat HaSeul release. Give her a dance EDM banger next!

    #2 sAvioR

    This one is difficult, because it literally came out yesterday, so I haven’t really had the time to make up my mind properly.

    But I’m … an emo </3 so heejin literally made this song FOR ME!

    Already at the start of the track, you’re met with a downright unsettling-sounding guitar progression, and it fits the song so well. The song is about a love that grows into obsession and absolutely losing yourself in your obsession, so I’m happy that the darkness of the themes are reflected well in an actual grunge-style instrumental!

    I remember the Rich Man debacle. People were criticising kpop companies that want to emulate the aesthetics of punk rock, but never dare to actually follow through without smoothing out every edge in the song that actually makes it interesting, in order to appeal to a wider – pop – audience. I could say the same for hip hop, and basically all African-American influences. But they always seem to fail in a lot more spectacular ways when it comes to rock-adjacent music.

    This topic just reminded me that Trent Reznor (lead singer and songwriter of Nine Inch Nails) aided in the production of an upcoming ARTMS track. They aren’t fucking around at Modhaus.

    Anyways. Heejin also wrote the lyrics for this song, and they’re magnificent. I’m also so happy that it is a continuation of Virtual Angel, because I love a good lore implication! Also, the capitalisation in sAvioR was apparently Heejin’s idea as well, and it brings a lot of additional meaning of the song to me. ARTMS (ARRR) being the savior mentioned in virtual angel…. being ourii’s savior….. being heejin’s savior…..so many implications you guys.

    #1 Can You Entertain?

    We arrive at number 1

    WHY DO I YAP SO MUCH THIS TOOK SO LONG TO WRITEEE.

    After that one year where every kpop group released 80’s disco nostalgia (2020 and EVERGLOW did it best), I thought I would be a little done with this sound. But Kim Lip’s Can You Entertain executes it so well that I have literally nothing to complain about. Its so groovy that I start dancing in the middle of the study hall, it’s so catchy that i need to hit replay when im done listening.

    And amongst every song here, it’s the most dynamic to me. Every part of the song has a different element to latch onto, so it sticks in the brain so much easier to me. Vocally, the song allows Lip to showcase her skills a lot more than for example Pressure, where Choerry is made to sing in the same register for almost the whole song.

    But ultimately, I think it’s Lip’s charisma that really brings the song to #1 for me. She has the confidence to sell the song properly. She’s not here to put on a little show for you and sing a little song, she’s asking if you can entertain HER? And I think it makes me happy that she can confidently embody this energy after many years of performing, and now extensive touring experience with ARTMS.

    Final thoughts

    I want to credit this tweet for getting me to actually make this list (and make a new blog post finally)

    While each solo was rolling out, I felt unsure about ranking them, because it felt like pitting members against each other when what I really wanted in that moment was to celebrate each song and individual. I saw some people being very negative online, and I didn’t want to contribute to the discourse like that. But I do.. have a blog.. specifically for sharing my opinions on music…. And now that all the songs are out, I felt more safe in expressing my thoughts.

    sidenote: its scary writing about kpop releases now that my friends (hi) have been officially informed about this blog, because it makes me feel like a crazy person! but stan loona and fuck my stupid orbit life

    DON’T TAP THE GLASS: Album Review

    I don’t really follow Tyler on any social media, so. if it was a suprise drop for his fans! it sure was a suprise drop for me!! Apparently he made a post like a couple days in advance about the listening party for the album..ionknow i didnt see it. So I wen’t in completely blind! Well, at least as blind as you can be when he literally gives you instructions about how to listen to the album at the very beginning.

    Big Poe (feat. Sk8brd/Pharrell Williams)

    When he specifically said that “Leave your baggage at home” in the intro section was like Oh! this is his GNX! – and not just cus it’s another west side rap album with good songs on there – he did his big concept album where he got a little vulnerable, and now he just wanted to release a banger!

    And I was kinda right!! Like he says in the intro, he wants you to get up off ur ass, move, and have a good time! And very specifically – don’t just look at ur phone the whole time (aka don’t tap the glass screen) (is what i assumed that meant…?)

    I don’t have a lot to say about the track really. It’s a good start to the album. I imagine the guys at the listening party getting down to this 🕺This is for the guys at the club to feel really hard (😛💦) and for Tyler fans to be like “omg!!! hes edgy again!!”. The only thing is that Pharrells vocals are mixed so different from Tylers it pisses me off a little when I listen lol. But it’s kind of an unnecessary thing to complain about when his usual production style is intentionally unpolished. Also he sounds a little goofy and I appreciate that.

    I like crew-necks, polos and chinos! 🤓

    Overall a good time. ALSOOO the jump sample. If you want to know when I started moving, that was the part.

    Sugar On My Tongue

    Yesssss another Tyler song about eating pussyyyyy 😼😻!!!!!!!!

    As soon as the song started I think I said. out loud. “Oh, Rihanna?” out loud outside where people were sitting around me. But he validated me as soon as he started singing “eh eh” like in Umbrella.

    If the previous song was for the fans who like Hard Tyler this was for me who likes a GOOD TIMEEE! and I genuinely do not give a crap about his bad singing cus the instrumental literally sounds like driving down rainbow road and doing a little trick on one of the jumps

    like sugar on my ……… TONGUE!

    It ended up being one of my favourite tracks from the album. Probably mostly cus I like pop music,, but the club is not jumping if the girls aren’t dancing !!💃

    Sucka Free

    This is such a driving down the roads of California in the convertible with the roof down and the palm trees in the back and the sun is HOT and also it’s a GTA loading screen song.

    Didn’t I clock the vibes immediately? Yeah I did. LISTEN when I do my little song reviews, I’m not gonna be pointing out genre influences like all music can be effectively put in one or two boxes. I feel like that’s such a waste of time? (sorry anthony fantano idk what any of the words you’re using to describe the song mean and i can literally just listen to it myself)

    Sorry for getting sidetracked there. This is a good song 🙂 👍

    And sorry for holding up the gender binary here. but this is like the boy version of the last song haha. Like that song is for driving in Mario Cart, this one is for driving A Car on The Road. I like the chorus, it’s super catchy, and I think I’d listen to it on days where I want to feel like a baller that has it all together.

    “You the type to buy a chain before some furniture couch” YEAH COULDN’T BE ME (my room isnt big enough for a couch) (my bed is twin size) (i have 2 parcels of Things™ and Stuff™ coming in the mail)

    Okay we can’t ALL be rich and famous, but this song is to remind suckers like me that there are priorities in life right? That there are things worth being aspirational for!! LOCK IN…. or .. just enjoy the song and feel like you’ve got it all together 😌

    Mommanem

    Okay so a little detour from the previous vibe, yet- we like it!

    At the start of the track he does that rythmic breating thing – idk what else to call it, and it really reminded me of st.chroma

    I feel like a lot of elements in this album are pretty self referential – but not in a way where you feel like the artist is constantly reminding you like “yeah i did that!!! do you remember!! remember when i made that thing you like?”. I just kinda get the feeling that this is Tyler the Creator so of course he’s gonna make music that sounds like Tyler the Creator ??😭

    Also this track is so hype, it makes a good setup for the next track

    Stop Playing With Me

    While I was listing to the album I was trying to guess what the single would be. To be honest I didn’t expect it to be this one! In an album full of crowdpleasers, this didn’t really feel like one? It wasn’t an immediate Like for me, but I think it does its job if I ever wanna feel a little dangerous.

    Also, I think the first or the second time I listened, I had liked Mommanem and was surprised when this didn’t immediately play afterwards. HELLOOO This track is 2 minutes and 13 seconds long. If this and Mommanem weren’t split up, they would literally not even be 3 and a half minutes long!!!! STOP PLAYING WITH MEEE

    Ring Ring Ring

    guys he stopped playing.

    As soon as the instrumental to this hit I was like DAAAMNNN

    Yves of LOONA rating something 5 out of 5 stars

    YES YES YES we got 911 / Mr. Lonely part twooooooooo!!!!!! I feel like spiritually both Kali Uchis and Frank Ocean are on this song… hiding …. somewhere……

    I don’t have a whole lot to say other than the fact that this is a banger, I love that 70s(?) synth sounding like it genuinely came from Michael Jackson’s Off The Wall (and maybe it did???????idk i heard someone say it but maybe they just lied lmao?) AND. that I think it’s my favourite <3

    Don’t Tap That Glass / Tweakin

    I was about to start shaking ass and then he changes the song.

    Let me just say that my favourite lines: the ozempic one and hee hee. like i kid you not, i think i mostly added this to the likes cus the ozempic line – and ITS NOT EVEN LIKE REVOLUTIONARY OR ANYTHING I JUST LIKED IT THAT MUCH

    and the fact that after that you bring it back bring it back and back it up

    Other than that, the eerie piano reminded me of like a video game battle theme and… im so sorry for this… hamilton cabinet battle #1 PLEASE just send that red bar to the beginning, hear the piano, then play this

    obviously its hamilton and lin manuel miranda based it off rab battles and thats just unfortunate because im a norwegian white girl and now this is what i think of if i hear an eerie piano 😔 But also my pokemon is low in health we should do something… nvm im busy breaking it down rn

    Don’t You Worry Baby (feat. Madison McFerrin)

    So. Funs over. My least favorite track is here.

    It’s not even that bad really… but this singer has such a gorgeous voice, but it’s just a TEENSY bit off key or something from the beat – probably because it changes a little bit?

    And I already hear you booing me: “Oh, but you thought Tyler’s singing was okay earlier!” WELL SUGAR ON MY TONGUE HAD A MARIO CART BEAT. This instrumental is pretty relaxed and pulled back compared to the other tracks, so the singing is the only thing you pay attention to. Additionally. I’m asleep. zzzzzzzzz. the credits are rolling and im about to leave the theatre even though there are 2 tracks left.

    I’ll Take Care of You (feat. Yebba)

    I must have drifted off and fell asleep. Is what I thought when this song started. Luckily this one is a dream compared to the previous song 🙏 Tyler took a break and just decided to be a dj for a second. and it’s so funny when he just sloooowly fades in Knuck If You Buck.

    He also just decides to break it down adding in some drum and bass and it genuinely feels like going on a journey. At this point I was kinda wondering where the hell tyler went tho. like is he gonna come back?? what is he up to?

    And then knuck if u buck plays again and idk i just have a giggle.

    This track kinda reminds me of what Bo Burnam did in the end of “what”, where he just stops talking entirely

    Tell Me What It Is

    So I did watch (half asleep) Anthony Fantano’s reaction to the album – don’t worry though, it was a while after my third listen. But he was so right when he said that it sounded like a Gorillaz beat. Can’t unhear it now.

    Anyways it seems I simply can’t escape the slightly out of tune singing on a slow and dreamy beat. And I’m like. Didn’t the credits already roll???

    And then at the end he’s just “WhY cANt I FINd looOOOve!!?” and i can’t tell if he’s serious cus why are we heartbroken at the end of the album after knuck if u buck!?!? why are we crying in the shower now?? what happened to leave your baggage at home!!?

    I don’t hate it that bad. But you can probably tell that the album started falling off at the end for me there.

    This is a “short album”, because it is only 9 and a half tracks long. But I’m used to kpop mini albums being 4 tracks + an intro long so,,, if I get more than 6 I’m usually well fed!

    Still, I think a lot of people felt satisfied with the album length – it does feel pretty complete. And I like when artist don’t feel like they have to hit a certain length just to make it a full album. And the result of just sticking to your artistic vision is usually that the banger% increases 📈

    And it did! In the end 8/10 tracks ended up on my liked songs list. But let’s be honest that’s more like 7,5/9,5. So the banger% is actually 79% ☝️🤓 That’s a good album though!! actually. I’d say it’s a very good album! I’m definitely listening more to this than I was to Chromakopia (that being said 2024 was a stacked year for music)(and 2025 is a DROUGHT).

    I’ll figure out a good rating system for music. cus obviously banger% is gonna get lower the more songs you have. I think for now I’m comfortable giving it a 7+/10 overall? Maybe banger% is accurate for this length lol.

    The reason for my rating this time is that I could usually feel/point out some elements I didn’t like with some tracks, and none of the songs moved me to my core, they mostly just made me move.

    Hi!!!!!!! SOO I’m still working on getting this blog up and running for realsies (a bacheors degree where I never attempt to deploy my own project definitely felt a little unfinished) (that’s partially why im doing my masters) (also cus i need a state funded trip to broaden my horizons via student exchange!)

    Anyway. My idea was to just go through some notable songs (or mixes) that I’ve been going back to recently! Eventually I’ll get to that All Time Favorite Songs posts, but since I’m just trying to populate my database so I can finish building my frontend… I decided to just yap a little about some current songs out there! Sounds good? GOOD!

    There’s this mix that popped up in my youtube recommended while I was at work. You know, it used to be those “nintendo jams to have a matcha iced latte and study to” playlists of like animal crossing or wii sports playing, but I think after I searched for ARTMS’s Club Icarus so much during their promotional period – and also listening to the ESTii mixset all the way through a couple times, they started catching on to the fact I was a 365 partygirl and need to LOCK TF IN!!!!

    Have you ever had that feeling that you met your music soulmate? I swear at leats 80% of this mix was already in my liked songs list (i mean there’s a lot of stuff in there – but like the ones that are like all time likes yk) and the vibes were perfect, and IT HAS TRANSITIOOOOONSSSS. Maybe I haven’t been as tuned in to youtube playlists as I could’ve been because this was like above and beyond for me idk. I definitely recommend checking out the stuff eze has to offer, and if you share my tastes, then their “everything nice” playlist will probably peak ur fancy (is that right? i was lowky about to say touch ur fancy but that felt like.. inappropriate)

    FOUR – TWICE

    Guys I was a little unsure of what embed to use but I figured YouTube is the most accessible to everyone AND it gives you the entire less than 2 minute song (take notes Spotify……)

    I don’t remember which teaser it was cus the very first one was ageeees ago, but they played the deep ass synth and I though “OH THIS IS ABOUT TO BE PEAK” and then nothing in the rest of the album sounded like that – and I’m sure some once were like “oh thank god” but for MEEEEEEE that meant that FOUR ended up being my favourite track off the album.

    The Mood by FLO and Kaytranada does genuinely have that feeling for me! But tracing something that everyone that listens to FLO or Kaytranada (pop perfection enjoyers) have probably already seen on twitter is so lameee lmao
